VICTIMS SUPPORT FUND EDUCATION SUPPORT PROJECT
As you are aware, our hitherto peaceful country has not remained the same since 2010 when the notorious terror group called Boko Haram unleashed an unwarranted attack on innocent citizens in a market at Mogadishu Barrack, Abuja and numerous parts of the North east
Since then, the group has intensified its terror campaign not only against our security installations but also schools, places of worship, communities, business places and other soft targets.
The Federal government of Nigeria set up this fund to provide a framework through which all persons and institutions who wish can help mitigate the pains our country men and women are going through for no fault of theirs.
The Victims Support Fund Committee will help to mobilise collective efforts and resources in support for the victims. In furtherance of that Kanem Borno Human Development Association(KABHUDA) was selected amongst other civil society organizations in Borno state to provide different support services to victims.
KABHUDA has been working in Monguno and Kukuwa LGAs of Borno state since September 2017 in the areas of education support to 6500 pupils and 80 teachers where school furniture, scholastic materials and teacher training are being provided to victims. This project is expected to be rounded up in February 2017.
- Nine (9) primary and secondary schools in Monguno and Kukawa LGAs have received furniture support.
- About 6500 pupils have received assorted scholastic support.
- Sixty (60) teachers have been trained on psycho-social support techniques and school management.
- Project was closed in July, 2018.
